When Marksmen return to campus this month, the exterior of the Winn Science Center will look nearly completed. Inside, work is progressing quickly as crews prepare the building for its winter opening.
Here are just a few of the recent construction milestones:
Exterior
Obtained permanent power to the building
Started air conditioning
Completed brickwork, mainly on the Rotunda
Erected the structure of the greenhouse and started installing glass
Installed the copper roofing, with the Rotunda ongoing
Installed the timber canopy on the north side of the building
Interior
Completed mechanical, electrical, and plumbing in walls and ceilings
Sheetrocked all walls and ceilings
Painted the walls and ceilings on the first floor, started on the second floor
Installing the acoustic plaster on the ceiling of the commons area
Started terrazzo flooring this week
Installing ceramic tile in the restrooms
Installed the elevator
Created the opening on the second floor of McDermott-Green Science Building to connect the buildings

Installed tiered bench seating and revised sidewalks in the courtyard south of the library
Installed a permanent sandbox and new landscaping around the lower school playground
Started work on a sidewalk along the west side of the lower school
Working on revising the steps and landscaping on the west side of the library
